Re: Volunteers sought for HOPE activities

Householders’ Options to Protect the Environment (HOPE) Inc. is a community-based not-for-profit organisation managed entirely by volunteers.

The development of a good, strong team of "willing workers" is important in achieving HOPE’s principal aim, which is to raise awareness of, and encourage active participation in, waste minimization and the conservation of energy and resources. In a nut-shell, our efforts are directed at:

  • AWARENESS - letting people know;
  • EDUCATION - suggesting actions or attitudes which promote change; and
  • SHOWING - how it can be done.

If you would like to help us with our projects, campaigns and activities and you have some time and talents to spare, please contact the office by phone or email to see what jobs are available.

Areas where you can help

HOPE is looking for volunteers who can help in the following areas:

  • Admin assistance – dealing with correspondemce, filing, typing and photocopying
  • General - assist with internet research; literature review; commenting on reports; and helping to organise events and displays
  • Publications Team – contribute articles to e:news bulletin; develop information sheets; flyers/posters,powerpoint presentations, etc
  • Media Team – preparing media releases; event notices; and community service announcements
  • Membership Officer – handling members‘ enquiries; recruitment; and dealing with Mutual Support Partnership program
  • Event Team - assist with planning & prepartion; organising guest speakers, sourcing literature & other materials; and staffing of these events
  • Issue Campaigners – Climate Change; Genetically Modified Organisms; Biodiversity Conservation, etc
  • EID (Environmnetal Information Displays) - maintain/refresh EIDs located in Toowoomab at USQ, SQIT and th ecity library

A fair portion of the above work would ideally be done by locals (i.e. in the Toowoomba area) because the HOPE office is in Toowoomba, Queensland. However, quite a bit of the literature review, research, publications activity can be done via email. If you have a little bit of time to help us in any way, then contact the HOPE office on email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
