Carried forward grant applications

  • Qld GCBF: Nest Boxes Project – for birds and other tree animals -> Grant acquitted on 16/02/24
  • Australian Communities Foundation (ACF): Laptop (reactivated Sept 2023) – awaiting approval
  • Federal Volunteer Grant program: 2 laptops -> Unsuccessful, 18 Jan 2024
  • Queensland Community Foundation (QCF): Website upgrade ->Unsuccessful 25/03/2024

 

Projects – current and proposed

  • Current projects, etc.

o   Toowoomba screening of Climate Changers documentary on Wednesday, 1st May 2024

o   April 2024 – Research project: We have secured a Southern Cross University (SCU) Student Field Placement to assist us in compiling a report on Greenwashing.

o    Special Report on Food Security — Fiona Berry – Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) -> on hold until further notice

o     Special Report on Circular Economy – now being handled by Callum Fisher (as of 14/02/24)

o    Feature Article – Death by a Thousand Cuts (by Charmaine Turnbull) ->Completed Feb 2024

o    Commission from Biodynamic Agriculture Australia (BAA) Ltd to develop promotional material consisting of a “booklet of profiles” and a series of podcasts -> Completed Dec 2023

-> Issues with ‘podcast’ material raised by BAA staff has been addressed by Andrew (10/02/24)

o    Website hosting transfer; and conversion of content to WordPress (being undertaken by Communications & Computers Support (CCS), Toowoomba) -> Completed Jan 2024

o   To develop and publish a booklet on “Stories of Menfolk Environmental Champions of Our Region” who have made, and are making, to the Protection and Conservation of our Environment.

    • Submitted online grant applications to:
      • Toowoomba Regional Council’s Environment Program (16/02/24) -> Unsuccessful 19/02/24
      • Brisbane Airport’s Community Giving Fund (16/02/24)
      • Toowoomba Regional Council’s Community Support Program (20/02/24) ->  Unsuccessful (04/04/24)

o   Provide an information display at this year’s Logan Eco Action Festival (LEAF) on Sunday 2 June 2024

 

  • Sundry project proposals

o    Provision of free drone fly-overs: Friends of the Escarpment Parks (FEP)Toowoomba – Duggan Park and Redwood Park re Cats Claw Creeper infestation; and Coalbank Road Reserve (Coalbank)

— Develop a storyboard for each site. Awaiting availability of drone operator.

o    Renew Toowoomba has invited us to assist them in their Community Partners (rewiringaustralia.org)

o    Partnership with Ros Darracott, Associate Professor (Social Work and Human Services), UniSQ re: Eco-Social initiatives (see list elsewhere)
